Recruitment Strategy
Overview
We have taken recruitment much more seriously than many other subcoms/societies. Despite this, some projects are held up by single individuals who we cannot afford to leave. Some roles require niche talent that we cannot find. Recruiting in tech is notoriously hard and this is true even at the university level. It is crucial we establish a proper recruitment strategy (or see websites get re-written for the 1239081230th time ).
How we will achieve this
Establish a strong recruitment pipeline
Retain talent
Scout actively
Barrier on external applications
Pipeline
Open Dev
A development program that is open to the public. No commitment is required.
Internally referred to as: “External Development”
Recruits from:
Anyone can join
Training Program
A smaller internal program aimed at funnelling Trainees into the Flagship Projects. Trainees are expected to have strong commitment.
Recruits from:
Open Dev
External Applications
Flagship Projects
The teams working on our deployed projects. Everyone is expected to have strong commitment.
Recruits from:
Training Program
Scouting
External Applications
Open Dev → Training Program
Standouts from Open Dev will be encouraged/invited to participate in the Training Program. They will already have a strong foundation which will allow the Training Program to properly focus on developing its Trainees for the Flagship Projects.
Cohesion
There is mutual interest throughout the pipeline.
Training Program will be invested in Open Dev to help future Trainees
e.g. Training Leads/Trainees helping at dev sessions
Flagship Projects will be invested in Training Program to develop strong members
e.g. Providing specialised challenges/curriculums/help to prepare Trainees for specific projects
