New Teams

In our long !outstanding history, Projects has solely focused on developing (6? 5? 3? 8? the number changed every year ) projects. However, there are so many active components that could make up a dev community. Let’s take a look at some of them!

Flagship Projects

Does this really need an introduction?

Platform Engineering [NEW]

Overview: A new dev-ops team to keep our infrastructure alive and healthy. (Thanks @Abiram Nadarajah (Unlicensed) and @Jared Lohtaja (Unlicensed) for doing the work of 10 people ).

We made our first recruitment! Check out #introductions and say hi to @Sacha Korban (Unlicensed)

Training Program [REVISED]

Overview: An initiative started this year to cater to those with less experience. After 2 iterations of ups and downs, we are confident we know what we needs to be done in the future.

Interested in helping out? DM @James Ji (Unlicensed)

Open Dev [NEW]

Overview: With the Training Program pivoting to become a serious funnel into our Flagship Project teams, we need to ensure we do not neglect the wider community. The goal of this team is simple: decrease the number of empty GitHubs at UNSW.

Our pilot program starts in T3 with a series of workshops + dev sessions. A team is organising this as we speak. If you would like to help out in some way, check the Projects announcements!

Event Planning Committee [RECENT]

Overview: An internals team to drive fun initiatives throughout Projects! In the short timeframe this team has existed, they have worked/are working on:

  • Secret Lofi RGB Study Room

  • Post-Exam Meriton

  • Projects RoadTrip

  • <Hidden>

Yes, we are trying to buy your productivity with more Meritons

Content Crew [RECENT]

Overview: From spotlights on our flagship projects to episodic vlogs following our trainees' journeys to creating content for our new blog ( T3W3 ), there’s a lot to explore!

New Society

Wow. That is a lot of teams . Which is why Projects CSESoc Dev is becoming its own society! (Or subsidiary society. Or independent subcom. Details will be hashed out soon). Whatever the case, we are expanding beyond our projects and focusing on all things Dev related .

Recruitment Strategy

Nailing down recruitment is our priority. We really are serious about this! Serious enough to set up an entire pipeline to grow the talent we are looking for.

Pipeline: Open Dev → Training Program → Flagship Projects

Scouting: At hackathons, personal project competitions, workshops, other societies…

Application: Reliance on written responses + interviews. Reliance on GitHub + Challenges.

Retention: Losing key people is devastating…
